1995 – mgr (M.A.) in Polish Philology at the Pedgogical University of Cracow; 2000 – PhD degree, and in 2006 habilitation at the Pedagogical University of Cracow; 2012 – title of PhD in Humanities (profesor nauk humanistycznych); from 1995 academic scientist at the Pedagogical University of Cracow, the Faculty of Humanities, the Institute of Polish Philology; 2009-2016 head of IFP, 2017-2019 dean of the Faculty of Philology, and in the years 2019-2020 after restructuring, dean of the the Faculty of Humanities, from 2020 Rector of the Pedagogical University. In the period 2004 – 2016 head of the only postgraduate Romani studies in Poland: Romowie w Polsce – historia, prawo, kultura, stereotypy etniczne.
2014 – 2018 member of Komitet Nauk o Literaturze PAN (The Committee on Literary Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences); secretary, currently deputy chairman of Komisja Historycznoliteracka PAN Oddział Kraków (Cracow Branch); member of Komisja Słowianoznawcza PAN Oddział Kraków (Cracow Branch); member of Komisja Wschodnioeuropejska PAU; editor-in-chief of the journals: „Studia Historicolitteraria”, „Rocznik Przemyski. Literatura i Język”, member of editorial committees and review boards of several Polish and foreign journals.
He has managed a few scientific projects funded by NPRH and NCN, as well as educational projects financed by MSWiA; he has supervised 7 PhD dissertations, reviewed over a dozen PhD dissertations, over a dozen habilitation theses, several applications for the PhD title, and has written professor’s super-reviews for Centralna Komisja ds. Stopni i Tytułów (Central Committee for Degrees and Titles); he has taken active part in numerous international conferences and conferences in Poland, he has organised several cyclical conferences; he has chaired guest lectures in Czerniowce, Kiev, Lviv, Moscow, Ostrava, Wielki Tyrnow, Vilnius.
